Shake vs. After Effects
This has been a topic in forums across the internet. If you Google “Shake vs AE” you’ll get a myriad of entries, and every artist has their own opinion. Mine, however, has yet to be determined.
I recently completed a project that started out to simply be a ‘talking head’ format. To give it a little more energy I took a number a phrases used, and popped them up on the screen word by word as they were spoken.
Take a look:
I used the shirt collar to track the zooms, and – while I did get an amazing track from Shake – the process of working with all those “layers” of graphics and timing was way too clunky. Shake I believe is perhaps a superior compositor, but can’t hold a candle to After Effects in terms of it’s flexibility with motion graphics.
